A METHOD FOR WORKING-UP COMPLEX SULPHIDIC ORE CONCENTRATES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for recovering the metal values of polymetallic sulphidic ore concentrates containing lead and/or gold and other precious metals and at least one copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, uranium, molybdenum, iron and silver. The concentrates is treated by (a) roasting under magnetite-yielding conditions, (b) sulphating in an oxidizing environment, (c) leaching in water or an aqueous solution of sulphuric acid and (d) treating the leaching residue in a solution of chloride of an alkali or earth metal. The leaching of stage (d) may be carried out while supplying chlorine gas to recover gold or platinum from the concentrate. Alternatively, the leaching residue may be treated by smelting the lead residue while slagging the iron content to recover lead bullion containing precious metal.
