ABSTRACT Method in branching off a tube (10) wherein an oval aperture (11) is made in the tube wall and a tube element (12) having a flange (13) at one end thereof, is inserted through the oval aperture from the outside of the tube. The flange is pressed against the inside surface of the tube by means of a ring (15) provided on the tube element, which is engaged with the outside surface of the tube and is fixedly secured to the tube element, a sealing ring being located between said ring on the tube element and the inside surface of the tube.
