ABSTRACT This invention relates to a method of adding silver to calcium carbonate utilized as a purifying agent of water. The calcium carbonate is dipped in a silver nitrate solution having a determined concentration. Then, the calcium carbonate having silver carbonate and the like adhered thereto is treated with sodium ascorbate or sodium erythorbate to reduce silver. Another invention comprises directly heating calcium carbonate having silver carbonate adhered thereto uniformly in the air or nitrogen current at a temperature of 200°C or more.
