TITLE: NEW WOVEN TEXTILE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A woven synthetic textile, useful as the primary and secondary backing for carpets and as woven cloth to manufacture bags, bale wrap, wall covering, drapes and the like, can be prepared using a heavily fibrillated synthetic ribbon as at least one of the warp and fill members. The textile is characterized by the look and feel of a jute fabric. The fabric may be further treated after weaving to lift the fibril ends above the fabric surface as by brushing and/or needling.
