ABSTRACT A method of agglomerating coal comprising the steps of: adding a binder comprising an oil to a coal-water slurry containing particulate coal, and agitating slowly the coal slurry with the added binder in an agglomerating zone by means of an agitator provided with at least one agitating blade of metal netting to form oil-containing coal pellets having larger size and narrower size distribution than before.
