A method for alkylation of at least one or more amino groups or mono-substituted amino groups on carbon atom of a triazine ring of 1,3,5-triazine derivatives (melamine, melamine derivatives and various kinds of guanamine deriva- tives and the like), which comprises reacting the 1,3,5- triazine derivatives having at least one or more amino groups or mono-substituted amino groups with alcohols in the presence of a catalyst of a metal of group VII and/or group VIII in the periodic table. The object of the invention is to provide a method for alkylation of 1,3,5-triazine derivatives, which comprises alkylating amino groups or mono-substituted amino groups in carbon atoms of a 1,3,5-triazine ring, whereby substituted 1,3,5-triazine derivatives which are a group of useful compounds and which are widely used as intermediates of fine chemicals such as agricultural chemicals, medications, dye- stuffs, paints and the like, as resin materials and as flame retardant materials can be easily produced in high yields.

L'invention concerne une méthode d'alkylation d'un dérivé de la 1,3,5-triazine ayant au moins un groupe amino ou un groupe amino monosubstitué sur l'atome de carbone du cycle, tel que la mélamine, les dérivés de la mélamine ou divers dérivés de la guanamine, cette alkylation étant réalisée par réaction avec un alcool en présence d'un catalyseur d'élément(s) du groupe VII et/ou VIII de la table périodique des éléments, tels qu'un catalyseur complexe de rhodium. Cette méthode permet d'obtenir en grande quantité des dérivés de 1,3,5-triazine substitués. Ces dérivés sont des composés pouvant servir dans une large mesure d'intermédiaires pour divers produits chimiques spécifiques tels que les pesticides, les médicaments, les colorants et les peintures, vernis et préparations assimilées, et comme matières premières pour la fabrication de résines et de préparations ignifuges.
