The invention provides a method of alleviating neuropathic pain in a subject by administering a neuropathic pain alleviating amount of prosaposin receptor agonist to the subject. The invention also provides a method of inhibiting the onset of neuropathic pain in a subject by administering neuropathic pain alleviating amount of prosaposin receptor agonist to the subject. The present invention also provides prosaposin receptor agonists and the use of these agonists for stimulating neurite outgrowth, inhibiting neural cell death, promoting myelination and inhibiting neural demyelination. In addition, there is provided a method of inhibiting sensory or motor neuropathy by contacting neuronal cells with a composition comprising an effective inhibiting amount of prosaposin receptor agonist.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé permettant de soulager les douleurs neuropathiques chez un sujet, en administrant à ce sujet un agoniste de récepteur de prosaposine en quantité propre à soulager ses douleurs neuropathiques. Cette invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant d'empêcher l'apparition de douleurs neuropathiques chez un sujet, en lui administrant un agoniste de récepteur de prosaposine en quantité propre à alléger ses douleurs neurophatiques. Cette invention se rapporte également à des agonistes de récepteurs de prosaposine et à l'utilisation de ces agonistes pour stimuler la croissance des neurites, pour empêcher la mort des cellules neurales, pour promouvoir la myélination et pour empêcher la démyélination neurale. Cette invention présente en outre un procédé pour inhiber la neuropathie sensorielle ou la maladie des motoneurones, par mise en contact des cellules neuronales avec une composition contenant une quantité inhibitrice efficace d'agoniste de récepteur de prosaposine.
