Disclosed is a method for ameliorating acid soil by adding to the soil a flue gas desulfurization by-product consisting essentially of 80 to 99 % by weight of gypsum and 1 - 20 % by weight of magnesium hydroxide. By adding the flue gas desulfurization by-product, plant growth is enhanced. The by-product may additionally contain up to 3 % by weight of SiO2, up to 1 % by weight of Fe2O3, up to 1 % by weight of Al2O3 and less than about 200 ppm of boron.
On divulgue une méthode pour améliorer un sol acide par addition au sol d'un produit secondaire de désulfuration du gaz de carneau, constitué essentiellement de 80 à 99 % en poids de gypse et de 1 à 20 % en poids d'hydroxyde de magnésium. En ajoutant le produit secondaire de désulfuration du gaz de carneau, on améliore la croissance. Le produit secondaire peut en plus contenir jusqu'à 3 % en poids de SiO2, jusqu'à 1 % en poids de Fe2O3, jusqu'à 1 % en poids de Al2O3 et moins de 200 ppm environ de bore.
