ABSTRACT Pneumatic rams inside ovens have hitherto been used to thermocompression bond metal sealing components to the alpha alumina ceramic lid of a sodium sulphur cell. This invention discloses a spring loaded jig utilising disc springs. The jig comprises a pair of bayonet fastened separable portions. The components to be sealed are first loaded in the jig, compressed together and then placed in an oven.
