ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ambulatory electrocardiographic tape recording (DCG) taken over an extended period of time, such as twenty-four hours, is analyzed with substantial accuracy by randomly select- ing a sample of time periods of a specific duration (such as a 2% sample) and printing out a hard copy record of the electro- cardiogram at these times for visual analysis. The simplicity of this method combined with high accuracy in quantifying cardiac arrhythmias makes it preferable for most clinical purposes to conventional methods of analyzing DCG's.
