ABSTRACT METHOD OF AND APPARATUS FOR FRAME DECODING A series data Plow (DS) has a frame structure containing an item of periodically occurring synchronising information (SB). The frame recognition circuit (SZ), synchronised with the item Or synchronising information, is coupled to a frame generator (AZ) which emits a synchronising signal (SS). After a predetermined number of synchronous coincidences of the synchronising signal with the item of synchronising information, the frame recognition circuit and frame generator are decoupled. In the event of synchronous coincidence the count of a weighting counter (GZ) is continuously increased by one or more, and in the case of non-coincidence it is reduced by at least one. Resynchronisation takes place only when the count of the weighting counter (GZ) has reached its maximum value- (TC16) and the frame recognition circuit (SZ) is synchronised to a new item of synchronising information.
