The invention relates to a method and a device for improving the signal-to-noiseratio (S/N) in the audio gate channel (2) of pulsed Doppler radar units, wherein the audio gate channel (2) branches off from a digitized input signal of a video channel (I or Q) of a detection channel (1) of the radar unit. The invention further provides that the branched off signal of the audio gate channel (2) is combined with a modified signal of the detection channel (1) adapted to provide signal processing gain.
