A technique and apparatus for increased sensitivity fluorescence and luminescence emission measurement in which the emission volume (V) is enclosed in a closely fitting cavity (C) having highly reflecting diffuse material inner walls (W), and with a detector (D) viewing as much of the radiant cavity walls as possible.
