A method and an apparatus are provided for manufacturing a tab (1) for use with an easy-open can end, which tab is free from any exposed protrusion or cut edge thereon that would otherwise contact a finger or a lip of the user, without an increase in the number of manufacturing steps. A tab (1), attached to a carrier strip by a joint, is formed in a tab forming process, and the tab is severed from the strip in a joint severing process wherein the joint is cut off close to the tab nose (10) to separate the tab from the strip. The tab with a protrusion (19) which has a cut edge, remaining on the tab nose (10), is lowered while being held against horizontal movement. The protrusion is brought into engagement with a curling surface (48) of an arm (28) which is supported to swing in a downward passage through which the tab descends. When the tab is lowered in the downward passage, the arm is swung to cause the curling surface to press against the tab and curl the protrusion onto the tab.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé et à un appareil destinés à la fabrication d'une languette (1) utilisée avec une extrémité de boîte à ouverture facile. La languette est exempte de toute protubérance ou de bord tranchant qui pourrait venir en contact avec le doigt ou la lèvre de l'utilisateur, sans augmenter le nombre d'étapes de fabrication. Une languette (1) fixée par un joint à une bande porteuse est réalisée par un procédé de formage de languettes, la languette étant rompue de la bande par un procédé de rupture de joint consistant à couper le joint à proximité de l'extrémité de la languette (10), afin de séparer la languette de la bande. La languette pourvue d'une protubérance (19) à bord tranchant demeurant sur l'extrémité de la languette (10) est abaissée tout en étant retenue pour éviter son déplacement horizontal. La protubérance vient en contact avec une surface enroulée (48) d'un bras (28) qui est soutenu pour s'incliner dans un passage descendant qu'emprunte la languette. Au moment où la languette est abaissée dans le passage descendant, le bras est incliné pour amener la surface enroulée à s'appuyer contre la languette et à enrouler la protubérance sur la languette.
