ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a process for processing soft freezable confection such as ice cream sandwiches by (1) advancing a soft confection column, such as soft ice cream (2) feeding particulate edible material such as solid chocolate, into contact with the peripheral region of the column, (3) impressing the particulate material into the peripheral region of the column, and (4) severing successive bodies from the column. Also disclosed is an apparatus for processing soft freezable confection comprising: (i) a tubular member for advancing soft freezable confection as a column, (ii) a walled chamber adjacent the tubular member for feeding particulate edible material into contact with the column of soft freezable confection below the end of the tubular member, (iii) a tubular extension below and connected with the chamber for receiving the column and the particulate material, (iv) the extension having a restriction for impressing the parti- culate material in the peripheral region of the column and (v) means for severing successive sections of the column embedded with the particulate material.
