The invention relates to a method of producing road information for use in a map database comprising: - acquiring a source image from an image sequence obtained by means of a terrestrial based camera mounted on a moving vehicle; - determining a road color sample from pixels associated with a predefined area in the source image representative of the road surface in front of or behind the moving vehicle; - generating a road surface image from the source image in dependence of the road color sample; and, - producing road information in dependence of the road surface image and position and orientation data associated with the source image.
La présente invention concerne un procédé pour produire des informations de route destinées à être utilisées dans une base de données de cartes comprenant les étapes consistant à : obtenir une image source depuis une séquence d'image obtenue au moyen d'une caméra terrestre montée sur un véhicule mobile ; déterminer un échantillon de couleur de route depuis des pixels associés à une aire prédéfinie dans l'image source représentant la surface de la route devant ou derrière le véhicule mobile ; générer une image de surface de route depuis l'image source selon l'échantillon de couleur de route ; et produire des informations de route selon l'image de surface de route et des données de position et d'orientation associées à l'image source.
