ABSTRACT: For measuring constituents in a fluid which may be gaseous or liquid, in order to dispense with calibration procedures which are performed at the expense of the measuring time, the measuring apparatus is continuously supplied with a calibration amount of constituents from a calibration source, which calibration amount is mixed with the fluid to be measured. Subsequently, a part of the constituents of the mixture is led to a detector. The measuring signal which is then produced must be equal to a reference signal. If this is not the case a control device ensures that the amount of consti- tuents which reaches the detector is adjusted to the correct value. The setting of the contro? device is a measure of the amount of constituents to be measured. The apparatus may be used in unattended measuring stations for water and air pollution.
