A METHOD OF AND APPARATUS FOR CREATING IMAGES ABSTRACT An original photographic image 5 is interrupted by a controlled shutter 10 and simultaneously scanned by a light collector 21 over a planar reference frame by relative movement between the image and the collector 21 along a series of linear side-by-side scanning paths. A light emitter 22 which emits light corresponding to that collected scans a similar planar frame of unexposed film 6 by relative movement between the film and the emitter along a series of linear side-by-side scanning paths. A computer 8 controls the scanning operations and the shutter 10 to cause the image reproduced on the film by exposure to the light emitter to differ to that of the original image.
