ABSTRACT: If in an integrated services digital network ISDN a digital synchronous network, for example an integrated text and data network, has to be combined with an analog network, for example the telephone network, then synchro- nization is required between the two networks or between the digital data transmission arrangements provided in the different networks. In order to establish synchroni- sation of a digital data transmission arrangement, which is provided within the digital network and is in synchro- nism with the central clock thereof, with a network- external clock a comparator is provided at the interface the digital and the analog networks. During a clock period of the central clock of the digital network a comparison between the network-external clock and the central clock is effected. The comparison results then obtained are transmitted via the signalling path of the digital network to the digital data transmission arrangement and used there to correct the clock.
