A-731 19.03.1991 - 7 - mo.a731 A B S T R A C T In a method of and a device for controlling the drive motor of a pile-lifting device provided at a sheet-fed printing machine a motor is provided comprising a first mode A having a high rated torque and a low rated speed and a second mode B having a low rated torque and a high rated speed. When switching on said motor (15) to respectively lift and lower the pile (4,5) the first mode A is selected and after a pre-determined period of time the circuit switches to the second mode B if during the pile (4,5) lifting the speed has exceeded a preset value and has not exceeded a preset value during the pile (4,5) lowering.
