Prior Art: Random distribution of a traffic stream to several traffic streams. Technical Problem: Implementation of the random distribution. Basic Idea: Cyclic shifting and swapping of elements of an allocation list with at least one random operation. Solution: Switching element which distributes in- coming cells to several outputs on the basis of the periodic processing of an allocation list which is changed after each cycle by shifting and randomly swapping two list elements. Advantages: - Simple algorithm, suitable for implementation in hardware. - All possible permutations are generated. - Minimum and maximum delays settable. - Solution also usable for problems in other areas.
