ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coke-oven door serving toclose an end of a coking chamber, provided with an upright frame, has a body comprising a rectangular membrane which spans that frame and is provided along its edges with an inflatable pressure member bearing directly or through marginal zones of the membrane upon the frame when the door body is positioned in front of that frame with the aid of fixed lugs or swingable latch arms engaging hooks rigid with the frame. The door body may further be provided with a heat-transmitting metal plate projecting into the chamber and defining with the membrane a channel for evolving gases whose heat is transmitted through that plate to the charge of the chamber.
