ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of detecting a heat source in a supervised area, consisting in displacing a detector device mounted on a support raised with respect to said area so that it effects an at least horizontal sweeping motion, defining the points to be watched in said area by the angular position of the detecting device in the horizontal and vertical planes when the latter is directed towards these points and associating with these angular data at least one additional information taking into account the geographic position of the point in a predetermined reference system.
