ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of identifying works on a production line includes: attaching to the successive works different cards carrying signs peculiar thereto; storing the data concerning the specifications of the works in relation to the signs carried by the cards on respective works; and identifying the work specifications through reading the signs carried by the cards on the works. According to this method, it is necessary to eliminate the necessity for the preparation and selection of cards corresponding to different work specifications, thereby allowing a reduction in the number of steps in the work identification process. Disclosed also is a system suitable for carrying out this method. -12-
