Abstract: A method of assembling a wound rotor of an electric rotating machine includes laying down a rotor body on its side in a pit in the power house of a hydroelectric plant such that its circumferential top surface protrudes from the pit to an extent that facilitates workers carrying out field coil assembling operations from the foundation of the power house. Also, any possibly necessary increase in height of the power house is limited to the sum of the axial length of the assembled wound rotor and the height of a crane lifting jig.
