ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A method of bleaching xylan and lignocellulose- containing materials, in particular cellulose and fibrous materials from plant raw materials is disclosed, wherein an aqueous material suspension is subjected to a multi-stage treatment with a xylanase- containing and cellulase-free enzyme solution and bleaching agents, which comprises at least one sequence of an enzyme bleaching stage (X) and an ozone bleaching stage (Z). Preferably, a peroxide bleaching stage (P), an oxygen bleaching stage (O2) and afterbleaching stages are included as further bleaching stages. Furthermore, oxygen-intensified (E/O) or peroxide-intensified (E/P) extraction stages may be included.
