Abstract of the Disclosure A method of cleaning a raw ore product such a coal is disclosed wherein the ore product is conveyed through a bath of hot water increasing its temperature to about 200°- 212°F.; the surface water being then removed from the ore product after which it is dried to the desired moisture content by being moved through an evaporative cooler in a downward direction while being contacted by air traveling in a transverse direction at a rate of substantially between 10,000 and 15,000 cubic feet per ton of ore product.
