The present invention provides a method of coating a substrate having a surface defined by a layer of fluoropolymer. The method utilizes an aqueous dispersion that includes: particles of melt-processible fluoropolymer in an amount of 30 to 70% by weight; a fluorinated surfactant in an amount of not more than 250ppm based on fluoropolymer solids of the aqueous dispersion; and a non-ionic surfactant comprising an ethoxylated aliphatic alcohol in an amount of 2 to 15% by weight based on total solids of the aqueous dispersion. The aqueous dispersion is free or substantially free of aromatic group containing non-ionic surfactants. The aqueous dispersion may be optionally diluted and/or modified with additional components to obtain a coating composition. The coating composition may then be applied on at least part of the surface of the substrate to define the fluoropolymer layer.
La présente invention a trait à procédé de revêtement d'un substrat présentant une surface définie par une couche de polymère fluoré. Le procédé utilise une dispersion aqueuse comprenant : des particules de polymère fluoré aptes à être traitées par fusion en une quantité comprise entre 30 et 70 % en poids ; un tensioactif fluoré en une quantité égale ou inférieure à 250 ppm par rapport aux solides de polymères fluorés de la dispersion aqueuse ; et un tensioactif non ionique comprenant un alcool aliphatique ethoxylé en une quantité comprise entre 2 et 15 % en poids par rapport aux solides de la dispersion aqueuse. La dispersion aqueuse est exempte ou sensiblement exempte de groupe aromatique contenant des tensioactifs non ioniques. La dispersion aqueuse peut être éventuellement diluée et/ou modifiée avec des constituants additionnels en vue d'obtenir une composition de revêtement. La composition de revêtement peut ensuite être appliquée sur au moins une partie de la surface du substrat pour définir la couche de polymère fluoré.
