ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of coating an automotive part with a room temperature vulcanizable silicone rubber composition comprising applying to the automotive part a thin layer of a composition comprising a silanol end-stopped poly- siloxane polymer, an alkyl silicate as the cross-linking agent and as the catalyst a metal salt of a carboxylic acid. The automotive parts can be a tail pipe resonator or a muffler. Such composition, which is a two- component or two package room-temperature vulcanizable silicone rubber composition can also be used to coat the underside of a car to protect it from corrosion.
