ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of coating a rare earth magnetizable material with a strongly bonding wear and corrosion resistant surface. A coating of strongly adherent aluminum is applied to the magnetizable material then a coating of a wear and corrosion resistant metal is applied to the aluminum. The adherent aluminum coating may be applied by ion vapour deposition. A desirable wear and corrosion resistant coating is nickel. Unlike the prior art processes the process of the present invention produces a strongly adhering surface for the rare earth magnet. - 22 -
