The present invention relates to the use of an osmotic colonic evacuant in solid oral dosage form comprising an orthostatic lavage in powder form and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, diluent and/or adjuvant. The present invention also relates to a method of evacuating a patient's colon, a method of treating small bowel bacterial overgrowth or irritable bowel syndrome and a method of treating acute or chronic bacterial bowel infection. The present invention further relates to a sequential pack for the oral administration of at least two treatment regimens comprising a first treatment regimen comprising an osmotic colonic evacuant in solid oral dosage form, in unit dosage form adapted and presented for a first administration period, together with a second treatment regimen comprising an osmotic colonic evacuant in solid oral dosage form, in unit dosage form adapted and presented for a second administration period.
La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un évacuant osmotique sous forme solide administré par voie orale, constitué d'un produit sous forme de poudre permettant un lavage orthostatique et d'un excipient, d'un diluant et/ou d'un adjuvant pharmaceutiquement acceptables. La présente invention concerne également une méthode permettant l'évacuation du côlon d'un patient, une méthode permettant le traitement d'une prolifération excessive de bactéries dans l'intestin grêle ou le traitement du syndrome du côlon irritable, et une méthode permettant le traitement d'une infection bactérienne intestinale aiguë ou chronique. La présente invention concerne par ailleurs un emballage permettant l'administration séquentielle d'au moins deux régimes de traitement par voie orale, à savoir un premier régime de traitement qui comprend un évacuant osmotique sous forme solide administré par voie orale, sous une forme pharmaceutique unitaire adaptée et présentée pour une première période d'administration, ainsi qu'un second régime de traitement qui comprend un évacuant osmotique sous forme solide administré par voie orale, sous une forme pharmaceutique unitaire adaptée et présentée pour une seconde période d'administration.
