A method of configuring a hand-held instrument (10) for determining the concentration of a medically significant component of a body fluid or a control comprises providing a configuring computer (14) having a first port (18) for transmitting instructions and data for configuring the instrument (10), providing on the instrument (10) a second port (17) for receiving the instructions and data from the configuring computer (14), coupling the first port (18) to the second port (17), transmitting instructions and data to configure the instrument (10) from the first port (18), receiving the instructions and data at the second port (17), and configuring the instrument (10) according to the instructions and data transmitted from the first port (10) and received at the second port (17).
Procédé servant à établir la configuration d'un instrument (10) tenu à la main afin de déterminer la concentration d'un constituant présentant une importance sur le plan médical d'un liquide corporel ou d'un témoin, ce qui consiste à mettre en application un ordinateur de configuration (14) possédant un premier point d'accès (18) servant à émettre des instructions et des données permettant d'établir la configuration de l'instrument (10), à créer sur l'instrument (10) un deuxième point d'accès (17) servant à recevoir les instructions et les données depuis l'ordinateur de configuration (14), à coupler le premier point d'accès (18) au deuxième point d'accès (17), à émettre des instructions et des données servant à établir la configuration de l'instrument (10) depuis le premier point d'accès (18), à recevoir ces instructions et ces données au niveau du deuxième point d'accès (17) et à établir la configuration de l'instrument (10) en fonction des instructions et des données émises depuis le premier point d'accès (18) et reçues au deuxième point d'accès (17).
