A B S T R A C T METHOD OF CONSOLIDATING AN UNDERGROUND FORMATION A gaseous silicon halogen compound (such as SiCl4) is injected for consolidation purposes into a waterwet pore space of an under- ground formation around a well or borehole. The entrances to this pore space are selectively obstructed by particles of non-aqueous composition (such as fine solid or liquid particles) that are car- ried down the well by means of a carrier gas.
