ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A non-surgical method of contraception is described which provides for the insertion of an expansible plug through the female reproductive tract into the oviduct. When so positioned, the plug is expanded into sealing contact with the oviduct wall. In turn, the plug can be subsequently collapsed and withdrawn when the contraceptive effect is no longer desired. For carrying out the method, a positioning device is releasably connected to the plug to facilitate its insertion and positioning and cooperative means, electrical or mechanical, in the plug and positioning device enable control of plug expansion and/or collapse from the exterior of the female body by the attending physician.
