A plant and process for producing alkylene oxides to control the production of silver chloride on a high efficiency silver catalyst is disclosed and described. The process involves reacting an alkylene and an organic chloride gas phase promoter with oxygen over the high efficiency silver catalyst. The sulfur concentration in the alkylene oxide reactor feed is controlled to reduce the production of silver chloride which acts as a catalyst poison.

L'invention concerne une installation et un procédé de production d'oxydes d'alkylène permettant de commander la production de chlorure d'argent sur un catalyseur à l'argent d'efficacité élevée. Le procédé met en jeu la réaction d'un alkylène et d'un promoteur en phase gazeuse de chlorure organique avec de l'oxygène sur le catalyseur à l'argent d'efficacité élevée. La concentration de soufre dans l'alimentation du réacteur d'oxyde d'alkylène est commandée pour réduire la production de chlorure d'argent qui agit comme poison du catalyseur.
