A method of controlling the quality of terephthalic acid comprises: detecting CO2 amount contained in non-condensing components in reaction waste gas discharged from a reactor having materials necessary for producing terephthalic acid; predicting the concentration of 4CBA in a product on the basis of the detected CO2 amount; and controlling reaction conditions so as to maintain the predicted concentration value of 4CBA in a suitable range.
