A method of controlling a telecommunications network, which includes at least one local exchange connected by routes to one or more parent trunk exchanges each being one of a plurality of trunk exchanges interconnected by trunk routes, in which the method consists of applying focused overload control to at least one trunk exchange of the network when the Bids per Circuit per Hour (BCH) along a primary traffic route from a parent trunk exchange to the local exchange exceed a certain threshold and the magnitude of a decrease in the average Answer Seizure Ration (ASR) on the trunk primary traffic route to the parent exchange over a measurement period exceeds an other threshold. The focused overload controls are call gapping controls, and the measurement period is approximately five minutes.

Méthode de contrôle de réseau de télécommunication constitué d'au moins un central urbain relié par des routes à un ou plusieurs centraux principaux interurbains faisant chacun partie d'une série de centraux interurbains reliés par artères interurbaines. Cette méthode consiste à appliquer un contrôle de surcharge ciblé à au moins un central interurbain du réseau lorsque les tentatives de prise par circuit et par heure (BCH) le long d'une artère primaire d'acheminement du trafic entre un central principal interurbain et un central urbain dépassent un certain seuil et que le niveau de diminution du taux moyen de prise avec réponse (ASR) au niveau d'une artère interurbaine primaire d'acheminement du trafic vers le central principal au cours d'une période de mesure dépasse un autre seuil. Les contrôles de surcharge focalisés sont des contrôles d'espacement des appels et la période de mesure est d'environ cinq minutes.
