A B S T R A C T According to the invention the chemical losses in the pulping process are covered by the addition of residual solutions from other processes containing appropriate chemicals, to the final evaporator in the spent liquor evaporation process. This avoids salts being deposited on the heating surfaces, which occurs when the residual solutions are added to the weak liquor as in one of the methods used today. Capacity losses are avoided and the thermal eco- nomy is improved. In the other method currently used, residual solutions are added to the concentrated waste liquor before the spraying into the soda recovery boiler, the concentrated waste liquor being diluted. However, in the method according to the inven- tion there is no such dilution, resulting in better thermal economy.
