- 1 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For a stepping motor having a rotatable stator magnetic field for driving the rotor, there is disclosed an improved apparatus for measuring the velocity of a moving member, such as a rotor. A transducer is provided for generating a signal whose amplitude is a function of the body whose movement is being measured. An analog to digital velocity value converter converts the instantaneous amplitude of the signal to a digital value, and samples two values of the signal at a fixed time interval to make a velocity calculation. Each velocity calculation is transmitted as an address for storage in a separate register of a multi-register addressable storage unit. In this way the velocity of the moving body can be continuously measured.
