A method of detecting the incorporation of HBV-DNA into MLL4 gene, which indicates the tumoral nature of a tissue, from a liver tissue isolated from a human specimen suspected of being tumoral. In a typical case, this incorporation can be detected by PCR with the use of a primer specific to the intron 3-containing region of the MLL4 gene and another primer specific to the X gene region of HBV.
