ABSTRACT A method to detect and identify a short-circuit fault within the pulse steering circuitry of modern, digital industrial electrostatic precipitator rapper and vibrator controllers, and to give timely notification to the operator, in the form of an alarm, that such an event has transpired is disclosed. The invention incorporates the software and logic required to perform this function. Additionally, the invention reduces the malperformance of the precipitator in the event of a short-circuit fault and provides to the troubleshooter clear information regarding the location of the fault to assist in the repair of same.
