METHOD OF DETECTING LEAKAGE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR COOLANT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of detecting leakage of cooling water in a water-cooled nuclear reactor. An acoustic-electric converter element is mounted on a wall of a member constituting a pres- sure boundary of a cooling system or on an attachment of the wall. Acoustic vibrations caused by leakage of the cooling water is detected and converted into electric signals by means of the acoustic-electric converter element. The elec- tric signals of a frequency of 0.1 to 1 MHz are selected. When the thus selected electric signals have reached a pre- determined level higher than a background noise level, an alarm is produced to inform the leakage of the cooling water.
