- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved trouble detecting method for a temperature control device including a thermo-sensitive element such as a thermister or the like. Such temperature thermo-sensitive elements are used in heating apparatuses, for example, a cooking apparatus or the like. The detecting method includes the steps of energizing the temperature control device for a predetermined period of time, and comparing an output of the temperature control device and a reference output. The continued energization of the cooking apparatus, for example, is dependent on the outcome of this time delayed comparison. The time delay allows the temperature sensitive element to fall within its operating temperature range before being tested, thereby eliminating a false testing.
