ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of determining and indicating a state of charge of a battery for a vehicle includes the steps of applying an electrical load to the battery and measuring a voltage level of the battery, maintaining the electrical load to the battery, waiting a predetermined time period, measuring another voltage level of the battery, determining whether a difference between the voltage levels is greater than a predetermined value, and indicating to a vehicle operator if the difference is greater than the predetermined value.
