A METHOD OF DETECTING OPTICAL LOSSES AT THE END AND END JOISTS OF FIBER LIGHT GUIDES Abstract The aim of the invention, improving the resolution by increasing the maximum possible distance to the test joint and expanding the range of applications by allowing the finish qua- lity of the ends, and their parallel and coaxial alignment to be determined, is achieved by successively sending probing light pulses into the light guides being joined, measuring the total power of reflection from the ends and end joints, and de- termining optical losses in these portions from mathematical formulae.
