Determining the machining conditions of a workpiece to avoid the onset of vibration during this machining. According to the invention, the machining phase is simulated (10) by temporarily setting the parameters of a cutting rate modulation function, from this the corresponding surface condition is deduced and the said parameters are modified iteratively, each time simulating the machining phase until the surface finish reaches an admissible value, then the machining phase is performed varying the cutting rate (O(t)) according to the corresponding modulation function.

Détermination des conditions d'usinage d'une pièce pour éviter l'apparition de vibrations pendant cet usinage. Selon l'invention, on simule (10) la phase d'usinage en fixant provisoirement les paramètres d'une fonction de modulation de la vitesse de coupe, on en déduit l'état de surface correspondant, on modifie itérativement lesdits paramètres en simulant à chaque fois la phase d'usinage jusqu'à ce que l'état de surface atteigne une valeur admissible et on procède à la phase d'usinage en faisant varier la vitesse de coupe (.OMEGA.(t)) selon la fonction de modulation correspondante.
