In an ex vivo method of differentially diagnosing dementias which include vascular dementias and/or frontotemporal lobe degenerations at least one carboxy-terminally truncated amyloid .beta. peptide selected from the group consisting of A.beta.1 -38, A.beta.1-37 and A.beta.1-39 is used as a biomarker in a body fluid of a patient.
L'invention concerne une méthode ex vivo pour établir un diagnostic différentiel de démences, notamment de démences vasculaires et/ou dégénérescences lobaires frontotemporales, dans laquelle au moins un peptide .beta.-amyloïde à terminaison carboxy tronquée sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant A.beta.1 -38, A.beta.1-37 et A.beta.1-39 est utilisé en tant que biomarqueur dans un liquide biologique d'un patient.
