A method is disclosed for synthesizing a frequency which has a rational relation with respect to a reference or clock frequency, the method comprising: providing a plurality of periodic pattern signals (g0-gN); feeding said plurality of periodic pattern signals to a N-way commutator (20); clocking the periodic pattern generator at a frequency f1; and rotating the commutator (20) at a frequency f2 thereby obtaining an output frequency of f1+f2 or f1-f2.

L'invention concerne un procédé de synthèse d'une fréquence, qui présente une relation rationnelle par rapport à une fréquence de référence ou d'horloge. Le procédé consiste à mettre en oeuvre plusieurs signaux à configuration périodique (g0-gN); à transmettre ces signaux à configuration périodique à un commutateur à renvoi multiple (20); à cadencer le générateur à configuration périodique à une fréquence f1; et à imprimer une rotation au commutateur (20) à une fréquence f2 pour obtenir une fréquence de sortie de f1+f2 ou f1-f2.
