A broadcast method for multimedia Internet broadcasting based on the transmission of discrete multimedia lists to recipients in availability states. The invention relates to Internet broadcast systems and methods, specifically to the broadcast of multimedia data on the Internet. In a first aspect the invention provides a method of broadcasting multimedia data to online Internet recipients where the multimedia data is not broadcast as a continuous bit-stream. Rather, the multimedia data is broadcast through the use of discrete lists of objects, some are media files, such as images, sound and video, and other objects relevant to each recipient's multimedia presentation which contain compiled executable files, references to web pages and web pages containing applets. Subsequent lists are then transmitted asynchronously to all recipients to provide individual recipients with additional multimedia content and presentation, depending on indications of individual recipient availability states.
