A method of dispensing a reinforcement strand (64) includes the steps of chopping the reinforcement strand (64) into discrete reinforcement fibers (14), directing the discrete reinforcement fibers (14) into a dispensing nozzle (18) so that the discrete reinforcement fibers (14) travel along a path extending generally along a longitudinal axis (36) of the nozzle (18), introducing a fluid into the nozzle (18) in a circumferential direction with respect to the longitudinal axis (36), thereby creating a vortex of the fluid surrounding the discrete reinforcement fibers (14) in the nozzle (18), dispensing the discrete length reinforcement fibers (14) from the nozzle (18) as a flow (54), and controlling the flow (54) of fibers (14) dispensed from the nozzle (18) by controlling the fluid introduced into the nozzle (18).
